Cast — Terms of Use

By using Cast you agree to these terms. They are written plainly on purpose.

1. What Cast is, and what it is not

Cast is an entertainment and self-reflection app. You ask a question, you make six choices, and the app builds a hexagram from those choices and writes a reading of it, drawing on the Yi Jing (I Ching).

The readings are generated by AI and are not fact. They are not advice, and they are not a prediction of the future. Nothing in Cast is:

• medical, psychological, or psychiatric advice
• legal advice
• financial or investment advice
• a statement about what any real person thinks, feels, or intends to do

Do not make a decision that matters on the strength of a reading, and never in place of a qualified professional. If a question is about your health, your money, or a legal matter, take it to a doctor, an adviser, or a lawyer. If you are in crisis, contact a crisis line or your local emergency number — Cast will say the same thing if you ask it something of that kind, and it means it.

You use Cast, and act on it, at your own risk.

2. Your questions

You are responsible for what you type. Don't use Cast to:

• ask about, or attempt to obtain information about, another identifiable person
• input other people's personal data
• do anything unlawful

The question text is sent to a third-party AI service to produce the reading — see the Privacy Policy, particularly the note about where that service operates.

3. AI output

Readings are produced by a language model. That means they may be inconsistent, occasionally wrong about their own reasoning, and will differ between castings even for the same question. That variation is inherent to the app, not a fault in it.

We do not review readings before you see them. If one is offensive or alarming, please tell us and stop relying on it.

4. Purchases

The Classical Reading is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. Once bought, it applies to every casting on the Apple ID that bought it, and can be restored on your other devices.

• The first casting is complete and free. After that, the paid layer is locked until purchased.
• All payments are processed by Apple under Apple's terms.
• Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we cannot issue one. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Cast needs an internet connection to write a reading for your specific question. Without one it falls back to an authored reading of the same hexagram, which is a true reading of the figure but is not written for your question.

5. Availability

Cast depends on a third-party AI service and on our server. We do not promise the app will always be available or that readings will always be produced. We may change or discontinue features.

6. Intellectual property

The app, its text, its design, and its mark are ours. The Yi Jing itself is an ancient work in the public domain; all English renderings of its Judgments and Images in this app are original writing and are not reproductions of any published translation.

Readings generated for you are yours to keep and share.

7. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of Cast, including any decision you make after reading one. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app.

Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.

8. Governing language

These terms are published in English. Translations are provided for convenience;

if there is any conflict, the English version prevails.
